I wanted to take the day off today, no computer no nothing…I wanted to savor our last day in La Seu D’Urgell before we make our way to France tomorrow.
So you can forgive me for forgetting that no blog had been written. I’d finally managed to sleep past 4am and my day started in a slightly more subdued and casual way from earlier in the week. There was no early morning walk as we waited for the first café to open, instead I dived into a bowl of strawberries that we’d picked up from yesterday’s market and perched myself at the kitchen window (the one I mention here).
How these simple pleasures are enhanced when the world isn’t whizzing by.
How often do we see, hear and taste the beauty that surrounds us with our full attention. Lately I’ve been half-arsed about where my attention has been. I’m probably no different to many people, but I want to be more aware of my surroundings and less aware of the things that need to be done. I’m tired of racing from one thing to the next just to meet a schedule. Are you?
Wouldn’t you rather fill your senses with the beautiful sights, sounds and tastes that the world has on offer? I know I would. Being here offers up a reminder that it’s easy to get into the rhythm of life and forget that we’re not here to do all the doing, we’re here to experience life in its fullest sense.
So today, I’m going to keep this post short and sweet and instead embrace a brand new experience…an anticipated Spanish siesta!
