“Work towards contentment so you wake up each day knowing that you are living in alignment with your values”
A moment of clarity led Sarah Cannata to make the life-changing decision to leave what she once considered to be her dream job to start her own business as a professional writer.
On one hand Sarah felt liberated and free from the burden of a job that didn’t inspire her and on the other hand, she felt like her world was crumbling down around her when she realised everything she thought she wanted and thought she was working toward in her life and her career no longer made her happy.
She experienced a huge sense of loneliness, and even though she was surrounded by people who supported her transition from job to a business owner, they couldn’t relate to what she was going through on the inside.
It was at that time when Sarah began searching for stories from women who she could relate to, women who had been through challenges in their lives and careers and women who weren’t fluffing over the tough stuff…women who were doing things on their terms.
She found solace in women like Brene Brown and Sheryl Sandberg and that’s when she had the idea to create This Woman Can, an online news hub and digital magazine for women and young people to help them realise their life and career potential.
Sarah has grown This Women Can over the past two years, it’s now being read in over 40 countries around the world.
Sarah’s story is one of courage. The courage to take a leap of faith and leave what was once her dream career into the unknown world of entrepreneurship. There is no denying that when you’re called to do something bigger with your life, you have to answer that call if you really want to know what it means to live life on your terms.
Words of Wisdom
Surround yourself with the right people.
You are not your business, your job or your career. When you distance yourself from these things, it allows you to take a step back, understand why things didn’t work out and take away the pressure that you put on yourself.
