Life on my terms means…
“to show up authentically with all the pride I deserve because of who I am and to let other people see that.”
There is no better way to kick off the year than with a conversation about getting gutsy. The beginning of a new year feels like a fresh start and many of us make resolutions to change something in our lives that we’re dissatisfied with or want to improve on. But why is it that 2-3 weeks down the track we revert to our old habits and feel like we’ve failed?
There is one reason that we all (me included) have fallen into the trap of and that is starting with HOW. When you start with HOW you focus on what you have to do. It’s overwhelming and we stop. It becomes too hard and we go back to doing what we’ve always done because it feels easier.
While today’s episode isn’t about New Year’s resolutions it is about getting gutsy and getting going. And that’s really what we want, isn’t it? To get going and keep going.
My guest today is Pat Obuchowski, author of Gutsy Women Win – How to get gutsy and get going.
Pat and I talk about what it means to get gutsy, why we need to stretch ourselves to step into that which is calling us and where to start when we’re feeling stuck or frustrated with our current reality.
We also talk about starting with HOW and why that trips us up and what to focus on instead…it’s simple and you’ll never go back once you learn this valuable step.
Pat is about to release her second book this month Gutsy Leaders and is co-authoring a book with Jack Canfield (New York Times best-selling author and originator of the Chicken Soup for the Soul Series) called The Secrets to Success to be released later this year…not bad for someone who gave up her dream of being a journalist/writer because she couldn’t afford the tuition.
Now is the time to get ready to get gutsy.
Words of Wisdom
Feel the gulp and go for it anyway. The ‘gulp’ is that scary exhilarating feeling we get just before we got to do something that we’ve never done before.
Don’t worry about the HOW, just stay close to the WHY.
You don’t have to have 100% of the requirements for anything before you go out and do it, you’re going to learn along the way.
