“It’s time for women to be their own health advocate”
Feeling hot and bothered, unable to remember simple things, feeling sad and not sleeping?
These are some of the things Shirley Weir experienced in her late 30’s early 40’s. She turned to Dr Google and discovered what she was experiencing wasn’t ‘something wrong’ it was peri-menopause; the phase leading up to menopause that can last anywhere from 5 – 15 years.
The more Shirley learnt about peri-menopause the more she felt overwhelmed with the amount of conflicting information on the internet. What she really wanted was a place where she could go to ask other women about their experiences and ask questions of experts…but there wasn’t any such place.
So she did something about it. Shirley created Menopause Chicks a platform that empowers women to navigate peri-menopause and menopause with confidence and ease.
As Shirley says we wouldn’t send our kids into puberty without having even the basic information so why don’t we do that with our own health? As with puberty, you can’t brush it under the carpet or bury your head in the sand, it’s going to happen but how you navigate through it is entirely up to you.
This is Shirley’s story…
